HSCC News Update

Weekly format change:

Due to our current lack of "tech helpers" there are a couple of small changes we'd like to introduce to help make things flow more smoothly.

  1. The DropBox will be passed around by committee members for people with general or specific questions which they can write on the sticky notes to be addressed in the following week, where possible.
  2. If your problem is urgent because your computer won't start or function normally at the meeting, then you can ask for help from a committee member.

We will review this change at a future date when there are more "tech helpers" available.

Depending on your version of Windows

Windows 7
  • Open Windows Live Photo Gallery
  • Double click to open photo
  • Follow the steps below

Windows 8
  • Has no photo program - bad luck - upgrade to 8.1

Windows 8.1
  • Open Windows Photo Gallery 2012
  • Double click on a photo to open it

Cropping Tool

When you click the cropping tool you will see a grid appear in front of your photo.

You will also see your cursor shaped like a cross(above)
This will allow you to move the grid around the photo to select the part you want to keep.

You can adjust the size of the grid by hovering over one of the squares on the grid border. When you see the double arrow heads left-click your mouse to resize in or out.

Once you have the grid positioned how you want it, click the Crop tool button again and everything outside the grid will vanish.

When you close the picture your changes will be saved. If you made a mistake use the UNDO button or CTRL+Z.

Very Cool Israeli Invention you must watch this !!

In modern vernacular – truly "awesome"!!

This is the coolest bracelet going and will be very marketable soon (2015).

Are you ready for this?  And it's waterproof too.

Look what they have developed in Israel.  Forget everything you think technology can do. This goes beyond that!!  This will be available next year.

DropBox and Photos Feb 11 2015

Talk by Tuffsy

DropBox is a free account for storing files from your computer, tablet or smart phone.
It is very useful for transferring photos from you tablet or smart phone to your computer.
It is very useful as a backup for your important files on your computer.

Steps:
1. Go to www.dropbox.com and create an account
2. Download the DropBox application to your computer, tablet etc.
3. Create folders under the Dropbox folder and move your important files to these folders
4. Turn on the camera upload in settings on your tablet or smart phone and start uploading.

Just be warned that the size of DropBox may be a limiting factor in the way you use it.
Comparisons with other cloud solutions can be discussed in future meetings.
